Motivational and Passion in Early Childhood…

“Some families have been frustrated to see their children denied even the most private forms of religious expression in public schools. Here is where I stand: I believe the First Amendment does not require students to leave their religion at the schoolhouse door. Just as we wouldn’t want students to leave at home the values they learn from religion, we should not require them to refrain from religious expression. Reinforcing those values is an important part of every school’s mission.” -President Bill Clinton, p.138 , Jan 1, 1996

“It is my passion to make sure that all children are taught in the environments and in ways that nurture them to grow to their fullest ability.” -Louise Derman-Sparks

Personal Childhood Web

1. George Banks– my grandfather who was the corner stone to my family. He would care for us everyday after school, feed us, do homework with us, take us to the corner store, and he did all he could to make sure we knew we were loved.

2. Sally Banks– my grandmother who also helped care for us after school everyday. She made famous pies and was a seamstress, so she made my dress for the “King of Hearts” dance and it was amazing. She used to let me lay on her special blanket and take a nap whenever I was tired.

3. Lakeisha Williams– my sister who was more like a mother to me. She cared for me from the time I was born up to the present. My twin was in the NICU and so my mother paid more attention to him, so my sister helped raise me and and she took care of me and guided me, she still does and she spoils my daughter so I know that I am special to her.

4. Mrs. Gwen– my head start teacher who believed in me and saw how great of a person I would be as an adult. She would do special projects with me in class, like make waffles or Christmas tree shaped cookies. She showed love and affection to me and treated me like I was her grandchild. I will be forever grateful to her.

5. Denise Williams– my mother who has been there with me through it all. We bump heads every now and then, but I know that no matter what decision I make, she will always be in my corner. She has been there for me once my brother got better and she helped me plan and pay for my wedding to the very last detail. She was in the hospital with me while I went through 53 hours of labor, considering she had just went through surgery herself. She helped take care of me after my knee surgery and my gastric bypass surgery and I will be forever grateful to her also.

My Favorite Children’s Book

I love this book because it inspires all young girls to embrace what they look like no matter what it looks like. I love reading this to my daughter because she has natural hair, and her hair sometimes looks like the little girl on the cover. This is one of my FAVS !!

“Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me… Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”

-Shel Silverstein (American poet, cartoonist and composer best known in children’s literature for his poetry, 1930-1999)

Here is a quote from a poem I read that just touched my heart, so I figured I would share it with you all:
